Discover an unique collection of miniature bicycles created by Ján Trulik from Slovakia.

Collecting miniature bicycles has been a passion of Ján Trulik since the 1990s. The miniatures, made from various materials, come from many countries around the world, not only from specialized companies or souvenir manufacturers, but also from indigenous peoples and local artists. The collection travels to various locations in the form of an exhibition entitled „On Two Wheels.“

Our (hi)story

1990

Out into the world

Ján Trulik founded a company specializing in the manufacture of wheelchairs in his hometown of Žilina, Slovakia. At that time, it was a novelty on the market, and orders took him to many places around the world.

2000

First bicycle miniature

Ján bought his first bicycle miniature in Ivanhoe, California, USA.

2019

Slovak record

The collection contained 96 pieces and received a Certificate of Slovak record for the largest collection of model bicycles.

2022-05-02 – 2022-05-16

First presentation

The collection was part of the event „Wheelchair for Katarína“ at the Andrej Smolák Gallery in Snina (Slovakia). The charity event served to support the treatment of multiple sclerosis for Katarína Reháková.

2023-02-15 – 2023-04-30

„On two wheels“

Ján got in touch with Peter Šimko, a transport historian at the Považské Museum in Žilina. Together, they prepared an exhibition entitled „On Two Wheels“ in the exhibition hall next to the chapel of Budatín Castle in Žilina, where the museum is located. The exhibition included real historical bicycles from the museum’s collection, such as a penny-farthing bicycle and a boneshaker, as well as wooden bicycles by Radoslav Burian from Vrútky.

Exhibition in Bratislava

The exhibition became part of the Transport Museum in Bratislava and was supplemented by a wooden bicycle made 100 years ago by Matúš Povala from Pucov (Orava, Slovakia), who rode it to the then capital city of Czechoslovakia – Prague.

2024-07-11 – 2024-10-21

Second reprise

The exhibition was reinstalled in the Gallery of the Mining Museum in Rožňava. During the exhibition, a discussion was organized with Gustáv Stibrányi, who crossed America from north to south on an electric bicycle and published his memoirs under the title „The American Dream – From the Diary of a Traveler.“ His electric bicycle with all of his travel equipment was also on display during the exhibition.

2025-02-03 – 2025-04-10

Third reprise in Spišská Nová Ves

After a short break, we installed the exhibition at the Spiš Museum in Spišská Nová Ves. It was supplemented again with Gustav Stibrány’s bicycle and two bicycles from the museum’s collection.

2025-06-24 – 2026-02-15

Fourth reprise in Košice

The exhibition contains more than 150 bicycle models. It is supplemented by real historical bicycles from the collection of the Slovak Technical Museum.

2026-05-30 – 2026-08-17

Fifth reprise in Prešov

The exhibition was situated in Solivar near Prešov in the historical Saline building. The collection is enlarging and already contents of 190 pieces.
